A truly pink rose smelling of citrus blossoms, mandarin, strawberries and cream with suggestions of creme patisserie. There are tantalising hints of jonquils, blackcurrant conserve, lemon sherbet and freshly baked cake.
My name is Charlie O’Brien and I am the “Noisemaker” for the label Silent Noise. I grew up at Kangarilla Road Winery and love everything about making wine. The name Silent Noise comes from my excitement as a small child surrounding the noise of tractors, trucks and everything machinery to do with viticulture and wine making. The noise stops when the wine is made and it sits silently in the bottle waiting to explode with a different kind of noise when the wine hits the nose and mouth.
I finished school last year and have worked vintages in McLaren Vale at Gemtree and in France at Domaine Astruc which is part of the Paul Mas company. I also worked in between vintages with a vineyard maintenance company that specialise in Organic/Biodynamic practices. I am recently finished vintage at Bangarra (Kendall Jackson) in McLaren Vale, another organic winery. I am really looking forward to head back to France later in the year working in Sancerre for Alphonse Mellot and expanding my knowledge of new and old world wines. I really like the idea of treating the vineyard (soil, vines and grapes) with respect.
