One of the most exciting elements of sourcing wines for the Smash Vino team is the opportunity to uncover and explore the beautiful boutique wineries that Australia has to offer. Often, this is where we unearth some of our most exquisite bottles. One such boutique winery whose wines we are proud to stock is Teusner Wines.
Having overheard a couple of grape growers contemplating removal of their 85 year old Grenache vines back in 2001, Teusner owners Kym and Mick stepped up to the plate and offered the growers an accepted sum, which saw them agree to keep the vineyard in the ground – and so the Teusner Winery was officially born. The winery’s superb location in Nuriootpa, Barossa Valley, South Australia has enabled Teusner to utilise some of the best of the old Barossa vineyards to make an exceptional range of fine wines.

Teusner Avatar Grenache Mataro Shiraz Barossa Valley

Teusner The Independent Shiraz Mataro
Teusner The Independent contains a blend of 50% Shiraz and 50% Mataro. It’s dark and tense, yet silky smooth, hitting you with a combination of plums, blackberries, black liquorice, blueberries, smoke, and dark chocolate.
Teusner Wark Family Shiraz
The Wark Family have been growing Shiraz at Stonewell in Barossa Valley since 1995 and Teusner were lucky enough to gain access to enough Barossa Shiraz fruits from their vineyard to create this top Barossa Shiraz. Black in colour, it’s brimming with plums, dark fruits, warm spices and ripe tannins and truly representative of the best of Barossa Valley.
